Lillelam is a Norwegian company started in 2004 by two new mums who couldn’t find high quality children’s clothes in Merino wool for their newborns.

They decided to make their own, and that is how Lillelam started. Lillelam was the first Norwegian brand based only on 100% Merino wool, with a unique design for comfort and growth, in an ethical and sustainable way.

Why Merino? We believe Merino wool to be natures finest fibre. It has powerful and unique natural properties that makes it ideal for children’s clothes to be worn all year-round.

All our products are made from the highest quality Merino wool available with the lowest possible micron; 17,5-18,5. That gives the garments extreme softness and comfort, as well as being itch-free, and non-irritating even to sensitive skin. All our products are made with Woolmark and Oeko-Tex 100 certified merino wool.

Unique qualities

  • Pure, soft and non-itching
Lillelam uses the highest quality of Merino wool commercially available and can guarantee that the products will not itch or irritate the skin. Our quality is so soft and pure that we even produce next-to-skin garments for premature babies.
  • Fire resistant
In strong contrast to synthetic fabric or cotton, bamboo and linen, wool is fire resistant (Cotton burns at 225 °C, wool reacts at over 600 °C).
  • Self-cleansing
Due to the millions of air pockets in the fibre that actively transfers odour and impurities into the air, Merino wool garments can be aired out instead of washing.
  • Helps your child to regulate the body temperature
Merino wool breathes and regulates the body temperature in a natural way according to the child’s movements and level of activity. One of merino’s key properties is the ability to keep a baby warm when it’s cold and cooler when it’s warm, so you can be assured of the perfect temperature regulation for your little one.
  • Resistant and long lasting
A good Merino wool garment can last a lifetime if you treat it correctly. One wool fibre can bend 20,000 times without breaking.
  • Environmentally friendly
Merino wool is 100% natural, renewable and biodegradable. Merino wool products have long lifespans, needs to be washed less frequently, and thus a planet-friendly fibre for many reasons.
